Break Free of Self Doubt - How To Lean in & Embrace A Challenge

A quick 5min read which I hope is just the right time you or someone you know needs to hear this:

I trust this message finds you scaling new heights, embodying your unique brand of dynamism, and pushing boundaries to take leaps of faith (even just a little)...

Life is a rally. It's not all plain sailing and EVERYONE at some point faces the unwelcome mental guests called fear and uncertainty.

Whether it's about career, relationships, finance or even health and wellbeing. Finding self belief can be a challenge.

  • Today, I wanted to discuss that one topic that I have received the MOST, in the challenges submitted in the past 2 months. The all-too-common antagonist in our journey: self-doubt.

The intersection of life and business, of vitality and vocation - is often where we find our true strength. Yet, it's also the space where we confront the uncertainty and question our progress and worth - at home or at work.

You know by now, I don't do things the 'normal way' and have an innate sense of curiosity that helps me stay agile and optimistic even in the most challenging of circumstances.

So I wanted to share below some tools and tips I use to overcome self doubt and lean in.

1. The Core of Self-Doubt: Acknowledge it and it removes the power it has.

Have you ever found yourself in the throes of decision-making, only to pause and ponder, "Am I good enough?" "what if someone else is better than me, will be chosen etc"..If so, know this: self-doubt is not an indicator of your capability. It's a reflection of your humanity. Embracing our vulnerability is the first stride towards banishing self-doubt.

2. Reconnect with Your 'Why'; Remind yourself of the bigger REASON.

When doubt becomes overwhelming, it's imperative to anchor back to our purpose. As business leaders, parents, athletes, partners or founders, we are driven by vision of what great could look like  – a potent cocktail of ambition, resilience, and passion. Rekindling your relationship with your 'why' can act as the North Star, guiding you through the fog of uncertainty.

3. Balance Intuition with Intellect: Conscious Decisions Are Deeper

The world, as we know, is not just about spreadsheets and metrics. It's also about intuition. I often speak about tuning in and listening to that innate voice. To trust your gut. Leverage your instinct alongside your intellectual prowess. The synergy of these will lead you towards the right direction. This is your true GPS.

4. Seek Mentorship & Feedback: Don't walk alone

In moments of self-doubt, remember that you don't have to walk the path alone. Seeking mentorship or simply opening up to a trusted confidant can offer fresh perspectives. They can act as mirrors, reflecting your strengths and illuminating areas of growth. Allow yourself the gift of receiving – insights, guidance, or just a listening ear.

5. Celebrate Small Wins: Micro moments Add Up!

The road to success is paved with little victories. Acknowledge them. Celebrating these milestones, no matter how minor they might seem, can be a potent antidote to self-doubt. It serves as a reminder of how far you've come and the mountains you've scaled.

6. Practice Wellness and Mindfulness

Lastly, an agile mind finds its home in a vital body. Investing in your well-being is not a luxury; it's a necessity. When the body and mind are in harmony, it's easier to tap into reservoirs of confidence and clarity. As I have always championed, "The Whole Life" approach melds our physical, mental, and emotional spheres.

So a radical reminder: Everyone, no matter how seasoned, grapples with self-doubt. It's not the presence of doubt but our response to it that defines us. Harness these moments as opportunities for growth and self-reflection.

As we move into August with just 5 months left of 2023 I ask each of you reading this two questions

  1. If you couldn't fail and you really followed through, what would you do
  2. What's getting in your way to not take the action to just make the next right step? What would you do if you removed the self doubt?

Keep thriving!

Yours in Mojo
