The Attitide of Gratitude.

Why it’s absolutely crucial to enjoy the journey and celebrate what you have now, have done to date and done for others.

Hi, guys, welcome from the wonderful Heliport Studios, where I recorded this episode on the fly with James Russell Music.

Who would have thought that 8 year old kid with a bad haircut and shorts instead of a dress, the one who was in woodwork instead of sewing - making a cheese board and wonky spoon (still in used at my folks house..see pics below..)  would be recording Fitpreneur for audible at last week.

To have reached 100 episodes on her little show on iTunes and Spotify and is relentlessly writing a third book that includes important research, interviews and insights from some incredible inspiring folks who lead by true example in our modern crazy world.

One Cheese Board Still in Use :)

A Wonky Wooden Spoon

Yet I feel like I'm only just getting started, which is insane, I know!

  • I want to remind you on episode 100 to use this time to pause and reflect.
  • The rearview vision mirror is very, very small but nonetheless, it's there - and it's very important to look back and see where you've come from.

How do we harness that WOW feeling to ensure that we keep momentum, motivation and the vision going whilst day to day life is demanding on time and energy?

1. Be in the NOW

We're constantly setting goals for ourselves or being inspired by other people. Quite often forget to recognise what we already have.

We're so busy focusing on what's next - we don't pause and reflect. So, whatever situation you're in right now, whatever title, whatever phase in your life, whatever age you are, I really want you to think about stopping, dropping the pin, and going what have I achieved to date?

  • What am I most proud of?
  • What lights me up?
  • Don't be afraid to give yourself a pat on the back and to start to think about all the things that you really, really love.

2. Gratitude and Purpose

The business and job you have now some people would absolutely love.

FedEX is not sending you a new body tomorrow. We have one body, one life, one spirit, and we're all here to create our own purpose.

When was the last time you just stopped for a second and thought, holy macaroni, I have achieved so much more than I even thought possible in life?

  • Just waking up every morning and going, this is another brand new day?
  • When have you focused on gratitude, celebrated milestones to stay grounded and motivated to get sustainable longterm results?

Fun 101 Falling back in love with your life

I have learnt in recent years and now with even more conviction that my purpose on this planet is dedicated to work with leaders in life. Those of you who create the jobs, set up the companies, build communities and lead from the front.

  • My mission is to be that cheerleader, confidant, navigator and trusted support for those of you who are relentlessly committed to what you do and in doing so build great legacy and work around you.
  • To make sure that you - as leaders - have the tools to successfully design, architect, execute, and implement a life and a business you really freaking love. Not in-between - but REMARKABLE.

Do you know yours and if not are you willing to take step back and reflect on what you love to do and combine that with what you are naturally fabulous at?

Don't try and force an answer on what your purpose is - it will come naturally and it will reveal itself.

3. Gratitude Beats Overwhelm

What have you created to date that you're most proud of?

Mindset is magic. Shift your perspective to be thankful even in times of stress and it will create a better chemical reaction in your body and brain - gratitude can beat overwhelm.

Everyone experiences overwhelm in some form or another these days. Whether it's getting so overwhelmed with what they see on social media, what they hear on the news, new leadership goals, job tasks, trying the balance life and work, just getting through the week!We get bombarded with so much, we sometimes forget to stop.

Never forget to stop, and pause, and look up, and think wow, this life is pretty amazing.

4. Be Specific with your time

"James - what's one part of the book that you've loved recording so far today"?

James, " The Vitality Bank. I had to really sit down and go, man, I'm making a lot of withdrawals. I'm mortgaging my time and mortgaging my future. I'm not putting enough deposits and assets into where I wanna be going, but I feel energy and conviction".

Just those simple reminders of how you use your day, who you hang out with, what your goals are, do they resonate, where have you come from, are you recognising that, and are you celebrating the small milestones?

Don't Mortgage your time and energy.

5. Do the Work

The big difference between goals that are wishes and what you actually start achieving, is when you do the work. Results and actions speak for themselves.

Whether it's creating beautiful relationships in your life, building businesses, hiring teams, never stop evolving.

Do the work. We pretty much get out of life what we put in. Success is not by accident it is on purpose and it takes dedication, focus, gratitude and a sense of conviction to not give up.

6. Choose your thoughts wisely.

If you're constantly thinking about what you don't have, and what you don't want - well generally speaking, that's what you're going attract. The law of attraction goes beyond creating a few vision boards.

It's having a genuine belief that you deserve, are willing to work for and genuinely can see results you aim for.

I know that some of you find that a little bit wishy-washy, but I urge you to remember that being at the top 1% of life means choosing a mindset that enables you to achieve that fulfilling abundance.

  • This mindset enables you to keep pushing through boundaries, to not give up, to believe in yourself beyond conviction.

  • When you start to do that, when you love what you do and who you are, unequivocally, you actually start to attract those things around you, but that's not easy.

For those of you that have seen me speak on stage, you may have remembered my Buddhist monk analogy, "You know, Buddhist monks, they run out of the monastery, and they have their certificate, and they go, that's it! I'm done! I'm gonna run to the pub! Their robes are flying behind them. No more work. .....NO WAY. Achieving and receiving with gratitude is a daily practice".

Practising the art of spirituality, being connected, and being true to yourself is a daily, weekly, and minute-by-minute thing.

  • It's not an overnight switch - it's actually having awareness for yourself
  • Having an understanding and an acceptance
  • Being willing to design a world and define what that looks like, that you're really passionate about

7. Gratitude Dominates Fear

Sometimes, we forget it, and we have self-doubt.

We let fear creep in. We get nervous because of past situations that haven't worked out, and we get afraid to repeat those. What you can do is have a leap of faith and learn from those things, and surround yourself with good people.

Understand one thing. You are not the same person that you were five weeks ago, five years ago. You're always growing.

Allow yourself the aptitude and the strength in understanding that you are continually learning.

It's one of the great gifts of human life, is that if there is a will, there's a way to keep learning and growing. So, instead of resolving to always do things the same way, be open-minded and give yourself recognition for the results you have created to date.

8. Be OPEN MINDED

Greg Valles, managing director of Valles Accountants, was on my show in Melbourne the other week. One of his takeaways that changed his life was being open-minded to all types of people.

He said, "It just is the most exceptional learning ground to be open to meeting anyone from all walks of life and what they bring".

That enrichment of human connection, of intellect, of emotional IQ, is really where we can add value to our vitality bank, and that's very, very important for me.

Surround yourself with the right people that say, why not, instead of, why would you do that?

9. Be Yourself

As you know, I don't do hope projects, so the people that work with me, the corporates, the coaching, we do it because we want results.

I'm very, very proud of my clients who are like family, the legacy that I've created with the work that we've done with Vitality Road Map©, The Mojo Maker Academy©, with the books, with all the coaching. Thousands and thousands and thousands of hours coaching corporates, coaching individuals. I love it all.

  • I do it because I care and I truly want to create impact and support all of you who are leading others in your life.

It's been in my blood from day one. And, I look back through all the jobs that I've had. My first ever job in a ski shop, to working in PR and TV to taking holidays and driving a ski boat in Greece and Egypt, being a windsurf instructor, working in global advertising agencies, working in Amsterdam and London, and being in New York for a short stint.

I didn't realise the ripple effect that I had with the show. So, I would like to thank all of you. 85 countries, over 100,000 downloads, thank you for listening.

Thank you for tuning in, for sending me your questions. Thank you for resonating with my no-BS attitude.

+ Be Grateful To Others Skills and Success

Find people that are excellent at what they do. Appreciate them!

Gratitude is infectious

Make sure that you have people that genuinely want you to succeed. Now, that's a very, very rare combination because it's a tough world out there, and everybody wants a piece of the pie.

  • Let go of trying to control everything and just let your work speak for itself.
  • Let your values speak for itself. And, if you come from a place of gratitude every morning, you will create more of that.

Work with those people. Celebrate those people. Say thank you, be grateful, because the ripple effect of that will be incredible.

For those that are the 2a.m. in the morning calls, the mentoring and support, Al in Santa Cruz, James at KPMG, a few other people around me, like Layne, Melissa, Alison, the self proclaimed "pressure cooker" - you know who you are, Josette and Jo - those of you who have always been there and said, "what are you doing? Keep going, keep going, don't give up. Aim higher". Awesome. So grateful.

10. Challenge Your Attitude

I challenge you to get out of your own way, to get rid of limiting beliefs, that ego is not your amigo?

Make sure that you really love what you do, and don't be afraid of it.

Don't be afraid to roll your sleeves up and do the work. The difference between hope and actuality, is doing the work. I love working hard - some people don't understand it because I work really long hours. I have the energy for it because I love what I do.

Keep connected to your life

  • Sit down and you reflect on all you have achieved.
  • All the jobs that you've had.
  • All the people you've had great connections with.
  • The incredible people you may have mentored, and vice versa, people that have taken you under their wing.

Very important to recognise that you are living and breathing example of what greatness can look like, no matter where you are. And, no matter what you do, you are a leader. You have a ripple effect. You are able to create an influence.

Our life isn't a dress rehearsal. We have 1,440 minutes in a day, the same number as Beyoncé or Richard Branson. What are you going to do with yours?

  • We have choice
  • We have freedom
  • We have freedom of expression
  • We have energy drive, and we have the ability to be the best version of ourselves

Nobody else is in charge of that. Nobody else is in the driver's seat, you are. It's up to you to take control, be aware, accountable and put actions in place.

Stay Strong and support each other

To all the families that have been dealing with grief, with catastrophes, with collateral damage lately, to leaders who feel the weight of the world on your shoulders - I send you strength, and I send you a lot of extra mojo.  Family matters, staff matter, you matter.

Please band together in your communities. They are so, so important.

  • Recognise and give significance to people.

  • Get off your phone. Have face to face conversations. Get that engagement going because you absolutely are a reflection of your actions, not your words.

To wrap up:

Lead your life with conviction. Be deliberate. Be purposeful. Have fun. Put a smile on your face. Don't sweat the small stuff.

What doesn't matter in 10 minutes, 10 days, 10 weeks, and 10 years.

  • Look after yourself.
  • Be healthy, wealthy, wise.
  • Run your body like your business. There really is no excuse. It is the best investment you'll ever make.

..you know my mantra: think like a CEO, plan like a visionary, act like a Buddha™, stay calm in the face of adversity. Always get your facts and stats. Do not listen to your ego because it probably wants to hold you back.

You don't need a show to create an impact. You just need to be the best version of yourself, to live with conviction, with clarity, connection in all you do, and we're all leaders in life.
